Web 1.0 to Web 2.0

Web 1.0 is the early beginnings of the internet where the majority of people did not have access to a computer or an internet connection and there was very little user generated content and more published content. Web 1.0 also had very few users (45 million active users in 1996) when compared to more modern day numbers (1 billion + active users 2006).  Web 1.0 was also referred to as the “mostly read only web” but as technology advanced son Web 2.0 was created where there is almost an equal amount of published content and user generated content and the user count is in the billions. Web 2.0 is also referred to as the “widely read-write web” where anybody with a computer (or sufficient device) and with and internet connection can write, review, read, view access, millions of websites blogs, videos and more with only a few clicks of a mouse.
